Easy DIY Halloween or Thanksgiving shirt

I stumbled across these shirts at Wal-Mart in the boy section and knew they were just perfect for Halloween or Thanksgiving. The brand is Wondernation, and they are $4.44 each. They have a lot of great colors to choose from that will work.

The brand of these shirts is Wondernation.

I wanted a simple design that would look cute on all three shirts. I went with a simple pumpkin. These can be worn at Halloween and/or Thanksgiving. The awesome thing about these shirts is the horizontal lines. These lines make it so easy to line up and get the design straight. I used vinyl, but you could also use printer transfer sheets (if vinyl is not an option).

Added a pink pumpkin!

Here are the finished products! What do you think? They were so simple, and now we have cute matching shirts to wear.

Earth Day Fun!

What activities or crafts did you complete for Earth Day?

We attempted to make Earth Day crayons after seeing the idea here. https://www.familyeducation.com/entertainment-activities/recycled-crafts-for-earth-day

At first, it seemed like the colors all melted together. After removing the crayons from the silicone pan, we were pleasantly surprised.

Here is a picture of how we placed the crayons in the silicone muffin pan.

I also decided to paint the earth using the cardboard from a frozen pizza. I love saving them and finding fun uses for them.

What did your family do to celebrate Earth Day?

Sewing Projects

I am new to sewing, and I love it! I am always looking for cheap, cute, and fast projects. I saw an idea to make a long pillow for the kids while in the car and decided to try it out. While at Dollar Tree, I found a fleece baby blanket and decided that it would probably work great. I cut the blanket in half, and it was a perfect size. I sewed the edges and decided to put a button on the end with a cord to use as a neck pillow. Super easy project!

I was going to make pillowcase covers for Valentine’s day, but I got the idea to make a wrap instead. I like this idea, and I think they look super cute. I used some material I already had and sewed all the edges. I used velcro to make it a wrap. I also just hot glued the details on it, which were leftover from Christmas! I am excited about making some fun ones for Saint Patrick’s day.

The next project I want to talk about is hair ties! Walmart has these AWESOME fabric strips that are already cut perfectly for hair scrunchies. These things are popular with teenagers right now. My daughter gave them out to her friends, and she thought it was awesome. I am patiently waiting for them to come out with the Valentine’s day prints.

Let’s talk about these cute cup sleeves. I am OBSESSED with these. I wanted to keep every single one, and so did my kids. They were simple enough to make, and you can find directions for them all over the internet. I made a smaller one for the standard coffee cup size and a bigger one to fit a cold cup with a straw.

This little pouch was pretty simple to make, and I thought it turned out nice. It is a small grab bag for a few diapers and wipes.

The next project I want to make is small travel type bags and fabric bookmarks. Stay tuned. Comment below some easy projects you enjoy making.

Homemade Extracts

This year I am really interested in homemade Christmas gifts. After researching for a while, I came across an idea to make homemade extracts. I decided to test it out. I ordered the vanilla beans and bottles off of Amazon and purchased different mini bottles of alcohol to use. You could use a big bottle, but I wanted to test different flavors and see how they affected the taste. Most of the recipes say you should allow the extracts to soak for at least a few months, so you would definitely want to start now if you’re going to gift these. There were also some other options to try versus the vanilla beans, such as orange and lemon. I purchased Madagascar vanilla beans to use, and I will admit they are a little pricey. If you want to keep this project more budget-friendly, I would say go for an orange or lemon extract.

I used Madagascar vanilla beans for all of these extracts. I had fun and used rum, bourbon, and vodka to create three different flavors.

I made some homemade banana bread the other day and used the vanilla bourbon extract in it. It was really good. Here is the link for the recipe I used. https://www.food.com/recipe/best-banana-bread-2886?fbclid=IwAR174hNegRltA_18kn3I0r2TwK9-iQ8Y8rFbVBDSmtidjpTVN3XPYv2RNc8

I used whiskey and orange peel for one bottle and lemon peel and vodka for the other.

Free Popcorn and Big Watermelons

I moved to Kentucky recently, and I decided to check out the store Rural King. Rural King has farming and home supplies. I park the car, and as I am walking into the store, this is what I see.

WHAT???? Huge watermelons!

Okay, so that was pretty cool. Now, I get inside, and they have cute little shopping carts for kids, and they also give away free coffee and popcorn to snack on while you shop.

Free popcorn.

I picked up some cute Christmas wrapping paper and found some fun stocking stuffers for the kids. Chicken feet gummies!

The store had a ton of cool food products, including a line of jarred food that appeared to be their brand. These would make cute gifts.

This place also sells cute baby chicks, and you can even visit their mascot rooster.

I enjoyed my visit to this unique store and will be taking the kids to check it out next time. (The employees were friendly also.)

Coolest Grocery Store Ever!

The kids and I went to a baseball game in Cincinnati, and while we were there, we checked out Jungle Jim’s International Market. This place is amazing. We did not have time to see everything, so we plan on going back. The store has different sections with food from different countries. My daughter and I are pretty sure the music changed in each area also. There is a small movie theater that plays the story of Jungle Jim’s and multiple little food stores attached to the market. There is a whole section just for hot sauce, including a life-size fire truck display. The fish is fresh as it is still swimming in the tanks. The entire place is just fun.

If you want to check it out here is the link. https://junglejims.com/departments/

A yummy treat from one of the stores attached to the market. This is a cupcake shake.. Ummm. yum!

We are going to boo our neighbors.

We have been booing our neighbors/people for the last few years, and it is so much fun. Basically, you put together a little goodie basket and ding dong ditch your neighbors (make sure they are home). You can customize it if you know how many kids they have or if they have a dog. I added some soap from Meyers and lots of little goodies from Target’s one spot. The “You’ve been booed!” signs are all over the internet. Print out a sign and have some fun!
